New On Nuon

Enforcing Security Policies

We’ve made some updates to Policies that enable them to run earlier in the lifecycle at the build and deploy levels. Also, complete with an updated UI and exportable policy report.

Using AI to Build Nuon App Configs

In Nuon Labs, we’ve added a new Claude Plugin that makes Claude Code an expert at creating BYOC app configurations with the correct TOML structure, Go template wiring, and dependency ordering. This is a big time-saver and reduces friction when porting your app to Nuon.

Update to the Customer Portal

You can now display all your apps in a single, seamless catalog view in the Customer Portal. The customer can quickly initiate an install of the vendor’s app from here — with no intervention from the vendor.

Vendors can also import and share completed installs with their end customers.

Update to the Vendor Dashboard

Installs can be set to auto-approve all workflow steps when creating an install from the install creation form. If customers initiate install from the Customer Portal, they will not be presented with approval steps either.

Google Cloud Support

Along with existing support for AWS and Azure, we now support Google Cloud as a provider to install a vendor’s app into.

Fresh Off The Press

One of our engineers Fred Diego wrote a technical blog about how building a BYOC solution can split the control plane and data plane from the vendor and customer, saying, “sometimes you go to the data - sometimes the data comes to you.” We continue to see the split-plane BYOC architecture for many data-intensive apps like database and AI.

Mark Milligan, our VP of Revenue, also authored an X article outlining the hard parts of BYOC and the current market viewpoints. This is a thought leadership piece that reflects the BYOC patterns of startups to established vendors and the three principles of BYOC that vendors will encounter.

BYOC In The News

Chamath Palihapitiya asked on X if on-premise is the new cloud in an AI world. With Nuon founder nuonjon responding, “Bring Your Own Cloud is the way. Move your app to the model, not the other way around.”

Zilliz has made it a core pillar to let customers deploy fully managed vector search directly inside their own cloud accounts.

With the announcement that Zilliz’s Microsoft Azure Bring Your Own Cloud offering is now generally available, organizations now have greater flexibility and control over their deployments.

Ververica also announced its Microsoft Azure Bring Your Own Cloud offering.

Quoted saying, "Most managed services make you choose between control and convenience. With BYOC, you get both—enterprise-grade streaming data orchestration and full control over data and security."
